Mode of Treatment
- When the addiction has not affected on a physical plane and is in the initial stage, an out patient treatment can be taken provided the patient does not revert to old habits. An individual approach should be considered even if the addict is enrolled in a rehabilitation centre. We forget our duty towards the patient after registering the person in the centre. If the patient is having a drive to get rid of the habit the process is simplified and we can treat him at home. But according to some expert views the best result are obtained by confining the patient in a centre.

- Group therapy involves treatment of many individuals ailing with alcohol addiction. This works out for addicted people who like to share their problems with trained personnel and interactive groups.
- Some addicts may develop severe physical ailment requiring hospitalization. Under such circumstance go for rehabilitation institute which has indwelling hospital equipment.
- Since psychological impact is a major cause of alcohol addiction, seek help of psychiatrist. Many sessions are required depending on the response and resistance to treatment on the part of patient.
- The institutes like ‘Alcoholic Anonymous’ and ‘My Way Out’ are useful for alcohol addicts and can be tried for treatment.
- The society can contribute to the treatment by providing training for job, legal assistance and spending time with the addicts to recognize their problems.
